On the way from Arches National Park to Yellowstone National Park, my initial plan was to find a hotel in the Rock Springs, Wyoming area. Instead, I found a reasonably priced Hampton Inn in the town of Pinedale, Wyoming, that was closer to Yellowstone so we decided to give it a try.

But was it a good decision?

Location & Parking

Driving down the town strip (Pine St.), I could immediately tell that we made the right choice skipping Rock Springs for Pinedale. Pinedale had that old west “cowboy” feel to it – not the Texas kind, but the Wyoming kind.

Pinedale, Wyoming, nestled between the Wind River Mountain Range, the Gros Ventre Mountain Range, and the Wyoming Mountain Range, the hotel offered spectacular views. The hotel was on the west end of Pinedale, directly west of the Stromness-BLM office building, on the north side of US 191. If you make it to the New Fork River – you’ve gone too far.

The hotel offered free parking.

FHOP Tip: This hotel has a laundry room and sells detergent at the front desk. It was the perfect “halfway point” for us to do laundry before heading back out on the road.

Lobby

The lobby area was a large lounging area with a fireplace, comfortable chairs and couches, and a breakfast bar nook.

Loyalty Program Benefits

The Hilton Honors program offered members an exclusive rate, free Wi-Fi, points toward free nights, complimentary high-speed internet access, complimentary “On-the-House” hot breakfast, free coffee and tea in the lobby 24 hours a day, and 24-hour front desk message and fax service.

For us Hilton Diamond members, we got a bottle of water and one snack item. Hey, don’t knock the bag of chips.

Room Amenities

Bathroom

Zero brand toiletry products were available in the shower, as were Neutrogena products on the sink.

Room Condition

Overall, the room was in good condition, but there were a couple of spot that got a little roughed-up. I was told at the front desk that the hotel would be undergoing a renovation sometime in 2024 or 2025.

Breakfast

The hotel did not have its own signature restaurant, but it did offer a complimentary “On-the-House” hot breakfast. The breakfast was pretty good, make sure to grab some tornados with cheese and salsa.

Behold – the breakfast Tornado.

Swimming Pool & Fitness Center

The hotel had an indoor heated pool, and also a Fitness Center equipped with modern exercise equipment.

What’s Nearby:

The hotel was near the famous Green River Valley and Wind River Mountains. Guests could explore the Grand Tetons National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Wind River range. There were also opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities. The hotel was also close to local food and bar options like the Wind River Brewing Company and the Corral Bar & Grill.

The Bottom-Line Review: Hampton Inn & Suites Pinedale (Wyoming)

The Hampton Inn & Suites in Pinedale, Wyoming, offered a comfortable stay in a picturesque location at an affordable price. The 2 Queen Bedroom was standard for a Hampton Inn and well-equipped, providing a great stopover after a day of driving. The complimentary “On-the-House” hot breakfast was much better than expected. The hotel also provided laundry facilities, adding to the convenience for guests.

Its proximity to national parks like the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone made it an excellent base for travelers. Overall, the Hampton Inn & Suites Pinedale offered a blend of expected comforts and unexpected “old west” adventure, making it a worthy consideration for travelers visiting the National Parks of Wyoming.
