Review: Element Las Vegas Summerlin (Nevada)

With the pandemic raging, I wasn’t about to give up on Las Vegas.

But, I decided that hanging out at my usual favorite spots on the strip probably wasn’t the best idea at the moment.

So, I came up with a work-around that would allow me to visit Vegas while social distancing from the throngs of potentially virus-positive humans on the strip – staying off the strip. Way off the strip.

Review: Element Las Vegas Summerlin

The Element Las Vegas Summerlin is an extended-stay hotel in the Summerlin area.

The Element brand is geared toward millennials and is based on three fundamental “elements”:  A balanced lifestyle, making a difference, and a focus on wellness.

Arrival & Parking

The Element Las Vegas Summerlin was easy to find, and yes, it’s about as far away from the strip as it could get.

It’s also very close to awesome hiking in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

The Marriott Bonvoy Redemption

The Element Las Vegas Summerlin is a Category 4 Marriott Bonvoy hotel, meaning it’s bookable with a standard redemption rate of 25,000 points (which translates to a CPP of .57, which is just an “OK” Bonvoy redemption).

Due to the weak redemption value and the 10x offer on my Marriott Bonvoy Business card from American Express, I opted to just pay cash at the total nightly rate of $142.38 for a “Studio, 2 Queen” room.

The Lobby & Check-In

Check-in was quick and easy, although I was not recognized for my Marriott Bonvoy status nor given a room upgrade.

The Studio, 2 Queen Room

The queen beds were comfortable, or they must have been, because I don’t remember anything after my head touched the pillow.

The Kitchenette Area

The best thing about this room was the kitchenette.

There was a full-size [empty] refrigerator, a dish washer, a microwave over, a standard oven, cleaning supplies, and dishware.

Honestly, I’ve had way worse than a Mr. Coffee machine

The Living Area

The living area was comfortable, if not a tad bit strange thanks to the 270-degree swivel flatscreen television.

The Room Condition

I quite liked the room overall, it pretty much had “everything you need, nothing you don’t”.

The one noticeable flaw was on the headboard on both of the queen beds. That cheap “leather” looks like it ain’t gonna cut it.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was clean, shiny, and well-lit.

Pharmacopia was the Element toiletry brand of choice.

Walking The Property

The property overall was clean and functional, although there was some noticeable wear and tear in the common places like the hallway carpets, the hallway walls, and the elevators.

There were water-stations, art installations, and rental bikes.

Breakfast At Rise: Breakfast Bar

The Element Las Vegas Summerlin provides free breakfast to all guests (even during the pandemic) at Rise.

During our stay, they had “grab-and-go” [frozen] breakfast burritos, Nutri-Grain bars, bananas, and juice boxes.

The Bottom-Line Review: Element Las Vegas Summerlin

The bottom-line was I liked the Element Las Vegas Summerlin.

The location was semi-secluded, but only a short drive from the shopping and dining (and hiking) areas of Summerlin.

Overall, I was really feeling the vibe of the place, and I loved the kitchenette and functionality of the rooms.

My only real “dings” were the lackluster service at the front desk, and the noticeable wear and tear throughout the hotel that could easily be addressed.

This stay really made me want to check out other Elements in the Bonvoy portfolio.

Final Rating: 7.5 out of 10
