Expedited Status

Perhaps the best news of all is the reduced requirements for elite status in 2021:

Discoverist status will require five Tier-Qualifying Nights or 12,500 Base Points
Explorist status will require 15 Tier-Qualifying Nights or 25,000 Base Points
Globalist status will require 30 Tier-Qualifying Nights or 50,000 Base Points

Even better, Chase World of Hyatt card holders earn 4X points and double nights toward elite status through February 28, 2021 (registration closed).

You read that right!

This means you can earn top-tier Globalist status in as little as 15 nights (or less, if you have the Chase World of Hyatt card and registered for the above promotions, or if you had previous stays from the end of 2020) if you complete your stays before February 28, 2021.

Extensions, Postponements, and Changes

This is all spelled out on the official Hyatt website, but I’ve included the overview for your convenience [below].

One thing to note: Of the four hotels that are moving up a Hyatt category in “mid-March” 2021, three are in California – and two of those are some of my personal favorites (the Mar Monte Hotel part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt,  and the Park Hyatt Aviara).
