Review: The Elements Krabi Resort (Krabi, Thailand)

From Chiang Mai, Thailand, we flew down to Krabi where we’d be staying at yet another independent [non-points game] hotel, The Elements Krabi Resort.

But was it a good choice for a hotel?

Review: The Elements Krabi Resort (Krabi, Thailand)

We ended up choosing this hotel due to the “Super Krabi Package” it offered which included, among other things, daily breakfast for two, a 1 hour massage for two, and free bike rentals to go with its ocean views of the Andaman Sea and the  islands of Phang Nga Bay.

Unlike the independent “value hotels” we choose in Luang Prabang and Chiang Mai, we decided to “splurge” a little bit in Krabi.

The Element Krabi Resort went for about $80 USD per night (which is still quite reasonable), but as mentioned above, we opted for the “Super Krabi Package” which went for about $115 USD per night.

The Entrance To The Hotel

When we arrived, we were pleased to find an attractive resort across the street from the beach, although it was a little bit smaller of a resort than we had expected.

We were warmly greeted at the entrance, offered welcome beverages, and escorted to the front desk for check-in.

The Bedroom Area

We were given a room on the second floor.

As we entered, we were very pleased to find an attractive wood-accented room that [surprisingly] reminded me of our stay at the Le Meridian Phuket Beach Resort.

Only this room had a bigger balcony and a better view.

The View From The Room

The views from the room were great.

From the balcony/patio we could peer down to the resort pool as well as catch a view of Hong Island.

The Game Room

There was a Game Room located downstairs from the restaurant with everything one would need to pass the time in paradise: a fitness center, a foosball table, a pool table, and a kid’s center.

Daily Breakfast

The daily breakfast was a major highlight.

We really enjoyed the large breakfast selection and the quality of the food offerings.

There was something for everybody whether it was Thai, Western, or Chinese breakfast.

The coffee was strong and the juice was freshly squeezed.

Cocktails By the Pool

A large and delicious Long Island Iced Tea. The first of many.

The Swimming Pool

Another highlight of The Elements was the pool with the swim-up bar.

Walking The Property

The property was gorgeous.

However, my friend had a fall on the extremely slippery “fake stairs” which were oddly placed next to the non-slippery “real stairs”.

He was fine and he chalked it up to one-too-many Long Island Iced Teas, but it did seem kind of diabolical to place the stairs together like that.

The “fake stairs” and the “real stairs”. Be careful!

Beach Access

Accessing the beach from the hotel required a 2-minute walk across the street.

Although the views from the beach we amazing, the location of the beach actually seemed a little industrial.

It appeared there was some sort of mining or dreading operation taking place in that section of the bay.

For whatever reason, there were no other people there, not even tourists. As such we opted not to swim there.

Jellyfish On The Beach

As it turned out, our decision not to swim there was probably a good choice. At least during the month of February.

As we walked the beach, we discovered there were many jellyfish washed up on the shoreline, although I suspect this was due to the season and not the water quality of the bay.

Review: The Elements Krabi Resort (Krabi, Thailand)

We had a great time at The Elements Krabi Resort.

True, it was a fair distance away from the airport (45 minutes by taxi) and the town of Ao Nang (30 mins by Tuk Tuk), but it shared the shoreline with a Ritz-Carlton Reserve which was just a 2 minute drive north.

We opted for a half-day tour of Hong Island with a water-taxi pick-up directly across from the hotel (a must do!) and if we had more time we’d have hiked the Dragon’s Crest trail.

The Elements Krabi Resort was a boutique hotel at its finest – small, elegant, smart, fun and upscale, with excellent food and service (and massages!).

I highly recommend it for couples and singles (and even families) looking for a quiet, secluded and upscale stay at a very reasonable price.

Cheers!
