Booking/Redemption

It’s not a secret that booking The Waldorf Astoria Pedregal on Hilton Honors points is no easy feat – especially if you are trying to book two or more days in a row. Still, every so often availability does pop up, as in our case, where we were able to snatch a few nights using our Hilton Free Night Certificates courtesy of our American Express cards.

Room Upgrade

We were given a room “upgrade” to room on a higher terrace with “one of the best views in the hotel” according to the front desk agent.  After seeing the room for myself, I can’t say I disagree.

Hilton Honors Diamond Benefits

Hilton Honors loyalty program guests with Diamond status enjoy exclusive benefits at the Waldorf Astoria Pedregal. These benefits include a daily food and beverage credit of $25 per person, per day, complimentary room upgrades to preferred rooms or next-best available room, and 1,000 Hilton Honors Points.

Location & Parking

Located at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, the Waldorf Astoria Pedregal enjoys a prime beachfront location, offering guests access to the pristine sands and turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean (although [surprisingly] swimming is not permitted in this part of the beach). The resort is conveniently situated walking distance from the vibrant marina area of Cabo San Lucas, allowing guests to explore the city’s lively atmosphere and indulge in the local culture.

One unique feature of The Waldorf Astoria Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas is the tunnel that guests have to enter through. As you approach the resort, you are greeted by a captivating sight—a tunnel carved into the mountainside. This tunnel serves as the entrance to the property and is itself an architectural marvel, carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. As you emerge from the tunnel, you are greeted by panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the resort’s picturesque setting. It creates a dramatic and memorable entrance, setting the tone for the experiences that await you at the resort.

Guests at the Waldorf Astoria Pedregal can take advantage of the complimentary valet parking available.

FHOP Tip: Don’t feel like using the valet service? Well, you are kind of out of luck. There really are no “Plan B” options, and it may be unsafe to leave your car down by the marina. Save yourself a headache and use the valet.

Lobby & Check-In

The lobby of The Waldorf Astoria Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas is an inviting space where guests are greeted with a view of the Pacific Ocean through the lobby’s floor-to-ceiling windows. The design of the lobby – with its high ceilings, stylish furnishings, and tasteful décor – reflects the elegance and sophistication one would expect from the Waldorf Astoria brand.

Welcome Gift: Clase Azul Tequila

The Waldorf Astoria Pedregal offers a complimentary gift of Clase Azul Tequila to its guests – a fitting token of appreciation for guests staying at this luxury resort.

This renowned tequila brand is known for its exceptional quality and smooth, refined taste. This is a “sipping” tequila, its not for shots. Seriously, it’s that good that you don’t even need salt, lime, ice, or a chaser.

Guests can enjoy this special gift in the comfort of their Ocean View Deluxe Plunge Pool King room or take it home with them as a memento of their stay.

Bedroom

The spacious and elegantly appointed Ocean View Deluxe Plunge Pool King rooms feature a private plunge pool where guests can relax and soak up the oceanic beauty of the peninsula. The resort even offers binoculars in every room for whale watching from the terrace.

The rooms boast luxurious Waldorf Astoria-branded amenities, comfortable furnishings, and an upscale Mexican-inspired decor.

The Waldorf Astoria brand Green Tea, Mint & Ginger toiletry products had a refreshing and invigorating scent, and were high-quality products (as expected).

Balcony Terrace & Plunge Pool

Without a doubt, the balcony terrace was our favorite part of the room, and the place we spent most of our waking time [sipping on Clase Azul Tequila while whale watching].

Cabo San Lucas is known for its prime whale-watching locations, and the balcony terrace offers a front-row seat to witness whales in their natural habitat.

Dining Options

Guests can also enjoy refreshing cocktails and light bites at the Luna y Mar Bar, or savor delicious seafood dishes at the Beach Club, or splurge at El Farallon, the cliffside seafood restaurant where you can sip wine while watching the sunset.

Dinner At Don Manuel

The Waldorf Astoria Pedregal offers a range of bar and dining options, however, Don Manuel is the signature restaurant at the resort, serving exquisite Mexican cuisine in an elegant setting for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We enjoyed dinner several nights at Don Manuel. In all honesty, I can’t say it was the best restaurant we ever ate at, but it was very good, and they did make some great drinks at the bar (I’m talking about you Carrizal Old Fashioned and Smoked Paloma). We went with the Sea Bass (delicious) and the Pork Chop (very good).

Breakfast Upgrade At Don Manuel

For breakfast at Don Manuel restaurant, guests have the choice of the buffet or a la carte options. As Diamond Members, we were able to upgrade our breakfast to the buffet for $10 per person (this is on top of the $25 per person daily credit).

Breakfast was a delightful experience, with a menu offering a variety of options from freshly baked pastries to made-to-order omelets.

The Parting Gift

As we were leaving to the airport, the hotel surprised us with a parting gift of two delicious turtle-shaped sugar cookies.

The Bottom-Line Review: Waldorf Astoria Pedregal (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico)

The Waldorf Astoria Pedregal is an exceptional luxury resort with a superb location nestled along the coastline of Cabo San Lucas and offering direct access to the pristine beach and waters of the Pacific Ocean. The spacious Ocean View Deluxe Plunge Pool King room accommodations offered superior ocean views and the private plunge pool on the balcony terrace added a relaxing touch privacy.

Dining at Don Manuel was excellent overall, with its upscale Mexican-inspired cuisine and elegant beach ambiance. The breakfast buffet spread at Don Manuel restaurant was very good [as expected], and the drinks at the bar were amazing. The resort provided a luxury experience with attentive and friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay. The property overall was gorgeous, and the all-important pool and beach areas at the resort were very well maintained and relaxing.

We really enjoyed our stay in every possible way.
