IHG One Rewards Diamond Status Benefits

As Diamond Elite members of the IHG One Rewards loyalty program, we enjoyed several benefits during our stay at the hotel. We received a complimentary upgrade to a 1 King Executive Suite (an upgrade value of about $125). We also received a welcome amenity of free breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, Panzano and had early check-in and a late check-out.

Room Entrance

The 1 King Executive Suite exceeded our expectations, as it was a huge corner suite that was spacious and elegantly designed, with modern amenities and tasteful furnishings. It had a separate living room with a sofa bed, a chair, an ottoman, a large work desk, and a flat-screen TV.

The bedroom had a king-sized bed with Frette Italian linens, feather down comforters and pillows, and another flat-screen TV. The bathroom had a freestanding bathtub, a separate shower, a double vanity, and Atelier Bloem toiletry products. The suite also had a minibar, a coffee maker, an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer, a safe, and free Wi-Fi.

The Atelier Bloem toiletry products were made of natural and organic ingredients with floral scents inspired by the famous flower markets of Amsterdam and created by the team behind Malin+Goetz. Items included oolong tea shampoo, geranium conditioner, mandarin and citrus body wash, and kadota fig body lotion.

Room Condition

Although the room was very clean, it did show a surprising amount of wear & tear for a remodeled room.

Dining Options

Within the hotel, there were excellent dining options to choose from. One of our favorites was Panzano, a renowned Italian restaurant. It served contemporary northern Italian cuisine with local and organic ingredients. The restaurant had a cozy and elegant atmosphere with attentive service. We had dinner there and breakfast there on both mornings.

Breakfast At Panzano

The breakfast menu at Panzano had a range of options, such as eggs, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, granola, yogurt, fruit, and pastries. I tried (and loved) the eggs benedict with prosciutto and hollandaise sauce and a danish along with a latte. The breakfast was included in our Diamond Elite benefits.

FHOP Tip: What’s Nearby: There were plenty of things to do near the hotel. We walked along the 16th Street Mall, visited the LoDo neighborhood (known for its historic buildings, trendy nightlife, and sports venues), took the light rail from the 18th & California station to the Union Station, and had coffee at the Illy Cafe across the street.

The Bottom-Line Review: Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver (Colorado)

We had a great stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Denver.  The hotel had a great location, a unique style, a friendly staff, and a superb restaurant. The spacious upgrade to the 1 King Executive Suite was comfortable and luxurious (in a “historical” kind of way).

The hotel’s location in downtown Denver was ideal, allowing us to explore the city’s attractions and downtown scene. Its proximity to the train station provided convenient access to the rest of the city.

The delicious breakfast at Panzano restaurant offered a delightful start to our day, a valuable benefit for IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite members.

The only real negatives I found was the condition of some room furnishings, but these were purely cosmetic.

The spacious 1 King Executive Suite upgrade, delicious breakfast at Panzano restaurant, prime location, exceptional service, and the hotel’s historic charm all contributed to an enjoyable stay. Taking all these factors into account, we rate our experience at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco an 7.75 out of 10. Recommend for singles, couples, out-of-town travelers, and business travelers.
