Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities in Europe, and there is no shortage of great places to stay.

Review: Hyatt Regency Amsterdam (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

After a wonderful stay at the Double Tree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station, I wanted to try another hotel, this time a little further away from the action.

And what better hotel to check out than a property from my favorite hotel loyalty program, the World of Hyatt?

The following is my review of the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam.

Location

First things first: The Hyatt Regency Amsterdam is located on the outer edge of inner Amsterdam near the last of the circular canals.

Although this is away from most of the main attractions in the city center, it is located in a quiet and posh neighborhood with very upscale restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. It’s also semi-close to the Heineken Experience, the Zoo, and the museums near the Rijksmuseum.

Getting There

Getting there is a little tricky.

I would recommend just taking a Taxi or and Uber directly from the train station (or even from the airport) as the public transportation is still a little far off and would likely be overly time-consuming to use.

The Check-In

Check-in at this business-style hotel conducted at the front desk via laptop and was fast and modern.

I was immediately welcomed and thanked for my status. I was also, surprisingly, offered a major upgrade from the booked 1 King Bed room to a Regency Executive Suite because my room was not yet ready.

The Redemption

I had booked a 1 King Bed room with my annual Free Night Award from my World of Hyatt credit card.

You can see, this room alone went for 286 Euros plus tax (equal to about $325 USD plus tax), so my annual free night award turned out to be worth about $350 USD!

But wait, there’s more.

The Regency Executive Suite Upgrade

I mentioned I was upgraded to a Regency Executive Suite. Per the below, this room went for 455.80 Euro or about $520 USD!

Once again, the World of Hyatt credit card came through again!

The Regency Executive Suite

The first word that comes to mind for the Regency Executive Suite is “impressive”. The suite was impressively large and clean as per European luxury standards.

The Bedroom

The bedroom was likewise large and very clean. The bed and pillows were just as comfortable as they look.

The Living Room

The living room was spacious and a great place to hang out. In fact, I had a friend drop by and he ended up just passing out and sleeping on the couch.

The Bathroom

Perhaps the most impressive part of the Suite was the large and modern bathroom.

The Bottom Line Review: Hyatt Regency Amsterdam (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

All-in-all, I found the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam to be very a pleasant stay. It was notably more quiet than my previous night stay at the Double Tree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station, but it was perhaps located further out from the city center then I would have preferred.

However, it was a very clean and tidy business hotel that was surrounded by some great restaurant and shopping options. Also, I was able to rent a bike from the hotel and enjoy the many bike paths of Amsterdam (the distance from the city center made this quite fun).

Overall, I was quite impressed with the property, the service (awesome upgrade!), and the room itself.

Final Recommendation: Highly recommended – especially for business travelers.

Cheers!
