Review: Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Lehi (Utah)

I knew when I was booking my stay in Salt Lake City that I’d be arriving late and leaving early.

Basically, I’d just be driving through Salt Lake City on my way from Yellowstone National Park to Zion National Park and I needed a place to crash for the night.

With that in mind, I wasn’t expecting much, I was just searching for a hotel that would cost a minimal amount of points.

As a Category 1 Hyatt property, the Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Lehi fit that bill, as it was bookable for just 5,000 World of Hyatt points.

But was it a good choice?

Review: Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Lehi

Arrival & Parking

We arrived late to the Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Lehi and found the large parking lot mostly empty.

The Hyatt Place was conveniently located just off of the 15 freeway (on a large hill), next to an outlet mall (the Outlets at Traverse Mountain).

It turned out Lehi was also ideally located almost exactly half-way between Salt Lake City and Provo.

Plenty of parking was available even at the late hour

The Lobby

As is the case with most Hyatt Place hotels, the standardized lobby was clean, functional and minimalist.

One thing I did notice was this property appeared to be relatively new (I believe it opened in 2018, but don’t quote me on that).

In any case, everything was still shiny and had that “new hotel smell”.

The Front Desk & Check-In

The front desk staff member was very friendly, and quickly thanked me for my loyalty and told me that I’d been upgraded to a room on a higher floor with a view of the Traverse Mountain area.

The bedroom, like the rest of the hotel, still seemed “new”.

The Fire Pit

Although it was too cold [and too late] to swim, it wasn’t too cold to fire up the ol’ fire pit and have some drinks while overlooking the city.

Breakfast (Grab And Go)

I have to say, to my surprise, I think the Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Lehi had one of the best “grab and go” free breakfasts on our entire road trip.

It was certainly the only “grab and go” that had a menu (see below).

Get this one! It was surprisingly delicious.

The Bottom-Line Review: Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Lehi

An excellent stay at a Hyatt place!

Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Lehi was exactly what we needed for an overnight stay (clean, easy parking, free breakfast, close freeway access) and gave us even more than we expected (nearby dining options (try the nearby Zao Asian Cafe), walkable access to the outlet mall shopping, and delicious bacon, egg, cheese, and green chili breakfast burritos).

At around $100 a night, or in our case, just 5,000 WOH points, this place was a steal.

Final Rating: 8.25 out of 10.
