Review: Heritage Inn, Pincher Creek (Alberta, Canada):

After my adventures in Yoho National Park and Kootenhay National Park, it was a long but pretty drive to Pincher Creek from Radium Hot Springs, BC.

The Location:

The fifth and final Canadian National Park I visiting on my epic Parks Canada Discovery Pass tour was Waterton Lakes National Park on the Canada/United States border.

I needed a strategically close location for an early start into Waterton Lakes National Park, and Heritage Inn, Pincher Creek fit the bill. It was about a 35 minute drive south from the hotel to Waterton Lakes National Park.

I was able to use Booking.com discount promo code and the room came with free breakfast (and I do love me some free breakfast).

The Check-In:

Heritage Inn, Pincher Creek, is located just off the main north-south Highway 6. It had a large parking lot and was easy to find even at the ungodly late hour that I arrived.

The front desk attendant was professional, courteous, and efficient. She handed me my room key and coupon vouchers for tomorrow’s [free] breakfast.

The Hotel Room:

The room was a typical, standard room that appeared to have been freshly painted and updated. The beds were clean and comfortable and I slept like a baby.

The Coffee Center:

This is a Cafe Valet (not a Keurig)

The Shower – a little outdated, but with a high showerhead

Eco Sciences shampoo, cream, and soap

Seasons Family Restaurant:

As promised, breakfast at the Seasons Family Restaurant was free. The buffet spread was large and delicious. I noticed that the morning clientèle was comprised of not only guests of the hotel, but Pincher Creek locals as well (always a good sign).

The Bottom Line Review: Heritage Inn, Pincher Creek

The hotel’s exterior and interior was a bit outdated, likely designed in the 80’s. But let’s be real, this is not L.A. and you shouldn’t expect some sheik ultra-modern boutique hotel in the south of Alberta. This hotel serves a real dual purpose as community convention center and a gateway to a national park. As such, it was exactly perfect for what it was.

I needed a hotel close to Waterton Lakes National Park, and you couldn’t get any closer than Pincher Creek on the Canadian side. This hotel was precisely what I needed at a great price. It was clean, tidy, and comfortable. The staff was friendly, kind, and helpful. And the free breakfast was delicious.

Cheers!
