From California, we crossed the border into Oregon on our way to Crater Lake National Park.

We needed a place to stay the night that was “on the way” and the Fairfield Inn and Suites Medford (also known as the Fairfield by Marriott Medford) fit the bill.

Location & Parking

The Fairfield in in suites Medford is located about two hours away from Crater Lake National Park.

The hotel was conveniently situated just off the Interstate 5 Freeway in what appeared to be a newly developed part of town close to dining, a gas station, golfing, and a shopping center.

Parking was free for all guests of the hotel.

Front Desk & Check-In

Check-in at the Fairfield Inn was quick and easy, with friendly, courteous front desk staff who thanked me for my Bonvoy loyalty and offered me a room “upgrade” to a higher floor.

Room Entrance

The room, like the rest of the hotel, appeared to be relatively brand new and was very clean and well-lit.

I found the room to be exactly in line with the other Fairfield Inn and Suites that I’ve stayed at in the past.

FHOP Tip: Dinner – For dinner, we headed down the street to one of my favorite chains in the Western U.S, the Black Bear Diner. It was just a 2 minute drive from the hotel and they served breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast

Breakfast was served as a “grab and go” and consisted of the typical Fairfield Inn fare: some hot coffee, yogurt, a banana, and a bagel. All were fine and as expected – which is a good thing.

FHOP Tip: Next to the Fairfield Inn and Suites Medford (or across from the entrance to the lobby) was a brand new Shell gas station. You may know that patrons are not allowed to fill their own gas tanks in Oregon. You may not know that some gas stations in Oregon go “above and beyond” in the customer service category – like this particular Shell which, while filling my gas tank for me, offered me a bottle of water, some free coffee, and a coupon for one free small item with the fill-up. They couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful.  I highly recommend stopping in if you need to gas up.

The Bottom-Line Review: Fairfield Inn and Suites Medford (Oregon)

We enjoyed our no-frills stay at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott Medford.

It was exactly what we expected from this “vanilla” hotel chain – dare I even say our expectations were exceeded.

The hotel was brand new; the service was great, the location was very nice in a new and clean neighborhood right off the freeway, with plenty of dining and shopping options nearby.

I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

This place is perfect for families, road trippers, and business travelers.

Final Rating: 8/10
