About Bavaria Dark Beer:

Bavaria Dark Beer is actually brewed by the Florida Ice & Farm Company (FIFCO), the same company that brews Costa Rica’s Imperial Beer. I believe they have revamped the packaging several times recently and perhaps even tweaked the recipe a bit (for the better).

Review: Bavaria Dark Beer

I’ll keep this one short and sweet. If you know me at all, you know I love Darker Ales, Ambers, and Reds. This beer fits that bill closer than anything else I tried in Costa Rica. Technically, it’s classified as a Munich Dunkel Lager with a 5% alcohol composition.

Gotta say, I really liked this one. Creamy, roasty, with a note of caramel – it was darker with just little heft, but not thick at all. It wasn’t as substantial as a Californian craft-style dark ale, but you wouldn’t necessarily want that in the jungles of Costa Rica. This was my favorite Tico cervaza by a long shot.
