Review: Andaz Singapore (Singapore, Singapore)

For my final night [this trip] in Singapore (and Asia for that matter), I decided to go big and check out something new – the Andaz Singapore.

This would be my second Andaz experience – after the incredible Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort – but I couldn’t help but wonder, how would it compare?

About The Andaz Singapore

The Andaz Singapore, owned and operated by Hyatt, is notably the first Andaz hotel in Asia.

Here’s an “official-ish” marketing video on the property.

Location And Getting There

The Andaz is located in the high-end Kampong Glam section of Singapore, near other luxury hotels such as the Conrad Centennial Singapore, the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel, the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, and the historic Raffles Hotel.

Getting to the Andaz Singapore from Changi Airport (SIN) requires a 20-minute ride by automobile.

The World Of Hyatt Redemption

The hotel is a member of the World of Hyatt loyalty program and is listed as a Category 5 hotel, redeemable for 20,000 points (which is what I did).

On the night of my stay, I booked a 1 King Bed room that was going for $407.71 SGD (approximately $300 USD). This gave me a respectable 1.5 CPP.

The Ground Floor Lobby

As I entered the building, the doorman mentioned the lobby was on the 25th floor and then pointed me in the right direction.

The Check-In At The Sky Lobby (25th Floor)

I arrived to find several “island” front desks, each with their own associate and laptop computer.

Check-in was a breeze. I was thanked for my loyalty and told I’d be getting a room upgrade.

The associate also sped through the many hotel amenities and restaurants before handing me the room key.

The front desk, or should I say, “a” front desk?

The Walk To The Room

The interior of the hotel was wooden, sleek, and sexy.

The 1 King Room With City View (Upgrade)

I was immediately impressed with the size and decor of the room.

The room relied heavily on lighter woods and purple accents – which went together rather well – to form a modern and cozy space.

Room Amenities

The room also came with a new Nespresso machine, a glass tea set, and a complimentary mini-bar.

The Bathroom

By contrast, the bathroom went with very pale wood tones and white stone accents, making for a bright, clean, and dry feel.

The View From The Room

The room came with a “city view” and it was spectacular.

There was a dotted film on the window to keep out the light, which strangely made the view more appealing (even at night).

Sunroom

The Sunroom was effectively the hotel’s “lounge”, and was open to all guests of the hotel.

Its offerings included coffee, tea, juices, and other non-alcoholic refreshments.

The Bottom-Line Review: Andaz Singapore (Singapore, Singapore)

I only spent one night at the Andaz Singapore, but nonetheless, the hotel left a big impression.

I found it to be modern, elegant, and cozy. It was luxurious  – but in a young, vibrant “new money” kind of way. Think Tesla vs. Mercedes.

Yes, Andaz has thoroughly impressed me for a second time.

Final Rating: 9/10 stars (Highly Recommended).

Cheers!
